Sam Trickett At It Again At WPT Paris

Sam Trickett posted his first significant live poker tournament cash back in 2008, and while 2009 proved to be pretty unimpressive for the new pro, his several sizable 2010 cashes showed that he was a real contender. Having only played two tournaments thus far in 2018, Trickett has now established himself as something of a high stakes superstar. In his relatively short career, Trickett has won or final tabled at major events all over the world, and now he’s set his sights on the WPT Paris Main Event.

The WPT National Series Paris Main Event started last week with a modest field of 188 players. The tournament is being hosted at the famous Aviation Club de Paris, home to several formidable French pros. They managed to whittle the field down to just 10 players after three days, and going into Day 4 Trickett was once again a clear favorite with the second largest stack.

Day 4 was short, seeing as they only needed to eliminate another two players to have their final table, but the action was particularly unkind to Trickett who seems to fare better in long grinding sessions. Three different opponents doubled up off of Sam’s stack; fortunately, the tenacious Englishman still managed to hold on. He’ll now be entering the final day of the tournament as the seventh stack, but many of the Titan pro’s fans believe he’s more than capable of fighting his way back to first.

In related news, not far from the Aviation Club where Trickett was battling for another title, the 10^th Annual European Poker Awards were taking place at the Queenie Club. Among those honored were Trickett’s fellow pro and good friend James Bord. Bord is the defending WSOPE Champion, and for his performance at that event he won the Outstanding Tournament Performance award. Upon accepting the award, Bord gave a shout-out to none other than Trickett, calling him the best poker player in the world.
