WPT, NAPT And Another SuperStar Showdown

Last week may have been all about the EPT Berlin, but this week’s live and online tournament schedules are nothing short of overwhelming. The pros must have had some major dilemmas deciding which planes to book. Today we had our pick of tournament tables to cover, but we’re going to talk about the super hot Day 3 results for the WPT Hollywood Poker Open and NAPT Mohegan Sun with a better late than never shout-out for Isildur1’s latest SuperStar Showdown.

We’ll start with the North American Poker Tour’s Mohegan Sun Main Event where returning champ Vanessa Selbst is making headlines for yet again dominating a tight field. Selbst has been a quiet threat for most of the tournament, flying just under the radar as she powered through Days 1 and 2, but at the end of Day 3 she once again demonstrated her impressive poker skills by surging forward to lead the final 24 players into Day 4. The odds are absolutely for her final tabling again, but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see how she fares against a field that still includes some pretty stiff competition in the form of fellow pros like Dan Shak, Olivier Busquet and Joe Tehan.

On the other side of the U.S. coast, the WPT’s popular Hollywood Poker Open Main Event is looking even more undecided with one of the best final table lineups we’ve seen in 2018. Among the last nine players are recent Poker Hall of Fame inductee Erik Seidel and Player of the Year Tom Marchese. Here are the chip counts going into the final day of play this afternoon:

Finally, we would be remiss to not comment on the latest SuperStar Showdown session. Once again Viktor “Isildur1” Blom took on his frequent nosebleed foe Scott “urnotindangr” Palmer at four of PokerStars’ designated heads-up high stakes tables. Palmer may have won the first round of the bout, but Blom quickly ate up Palmer’s original slim margin of victory (about $5000) in the second round to finish the face-off over $60,000 up. It’s been four straight weeks of Showdown play for Isildur1, what with his original two-parter against Negreanu followed by the more recent match-up against Palmer. With no news on the next challenger yet, it looks like Blom will finally get a bit of a break.
