RTG casinos offer a variety of blackjack games that are not only fun to play, but also offer generous odds to their players. While we’ll get into more details on each game below, the house edges are almost universally below 1%, with some games going below 0.5% — something that’s difficult to beat anywhere online.

One thing that’s important to note is that RealTime Gaming casinos are highly customizable. Operators of each casino can make a number of tweaks to their games, in particular changing the number of decks in the shoe. In those cases where this might change the house edge of a particular game, we’ve noted it below.

The standard blackjack game at RTG casinos has the following rules:

• Four to eight decks (usually eight)
• Dealer hits on soft 17
• Double on any two cards
• Split to up to three hands
• Double after split
• No surrendering
• No additional cards after splitting aces

With these rules, the house edge is usually 0.66%, though with fewer decks that number can be as low as 0.57%. Some RTG casinos also offer the following blackjack options:

Blackjack with Surrender: This game, which is rarely offered, is the same as the standard blackjack game with the added benefit that the player may utilize late surrender. This lowered the house edge to about 0.49%.

European Blackjack: In this version of the game, the dealer must stand on all 17s, the player may only double on totals of 9, 10 or 11, and the dealer does not check for blackjack until after players have played their hands. This combination of good and bad rules for the player leads to little change in the house edge; depending on the number of decks used, the house edge ranges from 0.57% to 0.64%.

RTG casinos also offer a number of blackjack variants. These games use very different rules, while still having the basic structure of a blackjack game in place. For instance, in Pontoon, blackjacks and all five card hands pay 2-1 for the player, but pushes are losses and the dealer does not play with an up card, among other unique rules. The overall house edge in Pontoon is 0.73% when played with two decks.

Several other variants are also available. In Match Play 21 – better known to many as Spanish Blackjack – the game is played with a special 48-card deck that does not include the tens from a standard deck, but gives other bonus wins to the player. Face Up 21 starts the game with both dealer cards exposed, but compensates by only paying even money for blackjacks and allowing the dealer to win ties.

Finally, Super Fun 21 (or Super 21) features a number of ways for the player to win extra money, including getting six card hands and the ability to double down no matter how many cards are in their hand; however, blackjacks again only pay even money in most cases. This game has the highest house edge of any of the blackjack variants we’ve mentioned, though at 1.20%, it’s still lower than almost all other games in the casino!
